Alchemical Research Pursuit

I've been attempting to pursue alchemical research with the scripted hint system.

Strangely, I can no longer seem to find it.

I use the tool on myself, which pulls up the menu, and when I select, "Review and Pursue Alchemical Research" It takes me to the correct section. I am allowed to review my 0 discoveries, but I am not able to spend my research points on research, because spending them is not an option. It says I have 5 unused points, and I havn't used any of them ever, so it's not a problem of the 24 hour spacing.

Not sure if this is broken, or if I'm simply overlooking something. Anyone have some insight?

You can't do it before level 4, so that might be it if you're a lowbie.
