Halflings, Native and Non, and even their non halfling best buddies are getting some love yo. A call has been put out for halfling hero's to gather and prepare for a great evil only they hindall folk can face, and this includes native halflings and non. Expect a faction with both conflict with other PC factions, as well as some DM involvement that plays into a Metastory for the whole Island and maybe even the ability to shape the face and future of the archipelago.

Halflings are an intruiging race of good natured survivors. Generally smaller and weaker then everyone else, they adapt and thrive to almost every environment, often by simply doing whatever by any means necessary to protect themselves and their families. Though usually good natured and tempered, Halflings are quite capable of ruthlessness and their sense of "honor" is quite different from what the definition of it may be amongst larger or stouter races - if you have to poisen someone, cut their throat in their sleep, lead them into an ambush and snipe them, drop big rocks on their head, or generally lie cheat and steal, so long as you protect your kin and your burrow from the marauding hoardes of big folk your doing the honorable thing: halfling honor is dictated by how they treat their friends, not their enemies, and what is seen by cowardly to others is simply good practical sense to them.

I reference the brief mention of the Kender army in Dragonlance, the army everyone else balked and laughed at - until they massacred an entire enemy camp without taking any losses by sneaking in during the dead of night and cutting everyones throats.

Then they probably ate a few meat pies and had some drinks. In that order. Don't cross halflings yo.

Due to the adaptibility and diversity of halflings, as well as the benefits of their naturally high dex with no con penalty, they can persue almost any career. Halflings make great barbarians, and great finesse fighters. The brute force approach is more difficult for them with their strength reduction, but a halfling decked in fullplate could still work. A halfling fighter rogue in a chainshirt can get ac superior to someone in fullplate via tumble, albiet at the cost of 2 ab and 2 feats. And it goes without saying Halflings make great mages, great rangers, great monks (they even have their own race unique order, the Hin Fist), and naturally great rogues.

Did you know that the art of Blade Dancing was actually invented by Halflings? look it up.

The biggest hurdle a halfling faces is doing raw dmg in combat without spells or sneak attacks, but the unusual and 'weaker' weapons they often use are the sorts that wind up as fodder for DM's to make a unique item for a player if they RP well, y'know, nudge nudge wink wink say no moar?

Expect this faction to dovetail with and work amicably with the Nature Faction, the Stargazers, as well as certain other player factions. Generally the goal of this faction is "Good", but a kind of self serving "do what it takes to survive" evil can also get by, since survival in the face of a coming cataclysm is a big theme for them

Mind you this is a player faction, not a DM faction, but it could have big implications for the server.
