Reptilian Summoning Scale summons aberration

I used a summoning scale the other day that casts Summon Creature II. The description suggests it would summon something reptilian, but I got a beholder of some kind instead.

I'll tack on this that my first summons with a Snake Club summoned a mephit, not something reptilian as I though it would.
