Rope Not Functioning

We (Glir and Ferrous) used ropes to descend in the Delving and upon trying to return, we were unable to climb.  In armor, out of armor, over weight, under weight, I rolled success after success and Ferrous never ported to the top of the rope.  Glir had a similar problem as well.  Successes were often WELL over the listed DC, and whether carrying as little as 150 lbs or as much as 212, no effect.  No DM was available to help us or provide assistance, so we logged to await a reset as we both had RL obligations to attend to. :(
