A new player-run faction is emerging that should prove a lot of fun for those that were a fan of the original Archaeological Society.  William Bell University is a group of scholars led by the surprisingly long-lived Asdon Garlin that have professed a desire to better the community through the pursuit of knowledge.

Who is Applicable: The great part is, almost everybody!  Anyone who wants to participate in speculation about mysterious events, wants to help out the community, or just general scholarly endeavors is more than welcome to join in!  We need Indiana Jones style archaeologists just as much as traditional bookworms.

And keep in mind that even though you may have another group in mind for the bulk of the adventuring and plotting your character does, that doesn't mean you can't join the University as well.  While characters who invest a lot of time and energy into the University are bound to be afforded more honors and the like, membership is pretty open.  So long as your character doesn't earn an unsavory reputation, there's no reason you could not enjoy a relatively passive membership and all that entails.

So, if you were a fan of Stern's previous faction or simply want to try something new, definately ask some questions in character or just join up!  Interesting characters who get in on the ground floor will certainly have more than a little say in the direction the faction takes.

We've got a few interesting characters so far, but we're always looking for more.  Again, being part of another faction (PC or otherwise) will not in most cases preclude you from membership in the University.  There are a great number of benefits with very little obligation, so every person that doesn't jump on this is really doing themselves a disservice.

If you're at all interested, get in contact with current members in any way you can, even if it's just to ask some questions.

We're still in business and going on strong.

Still around and still puzzling things out. This faction won't make your PC feared, rich or powerful, but it will let you a lot of info on the setting, the opportunity for your PC to make a name for themselves with IG books, and to get in on DM plots (people come to us for brains :D).

Even if you're not interested in joining this faction, at least stop by for a look. The library is full of interesting books, we have an awesome mid-to-high level quest, and our basement is full of neat gadgets like crystals that change colour and shit. In my opinion, the reason the Archaeological Society succeeded and why the University lives on is that its reach is so broad, covering such a wide variety of subjects, that any character can find something interesting or useful. We have members of all races, classes, and alignments, connected by nothing more than a love of knowledge.
