Trolls and Dort's Torches not working

In an attempt to mix things up band without a mage and I made our way to do the Trolls Quest. While having the "Torch" item bought from Dort it did nothing, both with and without a weapon while equipped after the troll downed. It will still send us messages to use "Fire, acid, or a torch".

A second attempt was made with "Fungus Torch" that Dort sells. Not sure if it's just his torches or things changed but Torches wielded by other PCS and myself had no effects.

Multiple PCs, multiple attempts, no luck.

Has this bug been encountered again? When did it happen? Has anyone else noticed it beyond this incident? There doesn't seem to be anything particularly different about the torches sold by Dort and I don't think the script has been changed.

I haven't done the quest since I was with RwG but it was the day the bug was reported.  Also we tried two different torches neither worked.
