Quote from: Talir;362485If the characters left a will, it'll be upon them to  ensure their belongings will be returned upon death through  in-character means. Having the people they travel with know what to do  should they perish.

Other than that, yes you won't get confirmation. You'll have to make  assumptions and carry out actions based upon that. Does your character  trust this grinning buffoon of a warrior that is loaded with supplies to  tell the truth of someone's demise? What information do you get from  the party that brought in the body? Investigate it through the means  available without resorting to OOC. It can make good stories, whether  the assumptions prove true or not.

What could be an interesting suggestion out of this is having the  description of a character corpse reflect whether or not gold or  equipment has been dragged off it. That's something more than only the  Mausoleum PCs might be interested in knowing.

As talir states, it is relevant to some individuals to know whether a body has been looted or not. Whether t heir belongings were completely stripped or not is practical knowledge to criminal PCs as well as law enforcement PCs.

An easily determined solution to this would make the lives of many players easier.
