Prestige wage for retainers

As the title says....

It would be nice if retainers of the major houses had a small prestige wage. With it being the only hub except for the filth in the ponds, the competition for the little yellow items is more heavy than ever (more retainers these days it seems). Also a small boost on top of it for "veteran" retainers of their houses?

Overall prestige is a pain in the ass and very random to get. Most dispensary rewards are literally about 50 prestige TOTAL in my experience, the small items are worth 5 and never drop beyond the low level quests, DMs often don't hand it out for faction events since it's not a normal thing like XP, and the gladiators are farmed by half of the server population so the availability is quite low.

In short, every system to get prestige rewards "grinding" or "farming" but fully excludes just roleplaying or being active.

There's also the fact that several of the previous ways to get prestige were abused to the point of receiving a big nerf.

E.g.: Who remembers the reason why the fishing spots in the Ward are gone? Who further remembers that this STILL did not stop people from fishing until they found those rare 500-1,000 prestige fish [the prestige wasn't that high until cooked] and the value of those cooked fish had to be severely reduced?

Obviously, people shouldn't be able to show up on day 1 and get masterwork armor (which literally happened a few times during the fishing craze). But prestige is harder to come by now, due to more people being retainers and the RNG for prestigious items remaining the same.

I think this could be good if it was like while in rings 99-95 or something to promote getting prestige being focused around being involved in the Peerage.

Maybe prestige for all retainers who are within a certain range of the gifts being opened if they are of the same house, something a bit bigger like 50-100 guaranteed to promote the houses going together to win.

Honestly, the gifts and the dispensary no longer even make sense.

Why would Sunpurse or Orza, who at least publicly, support the Count want the scraps of the King's table, if it wasn't for the fact that folks need prestige to buy house gear? It keeps setting a weird tone, such that my Sunpurse character typically refuses to participate and demean himself by taking the half-rotten food and whatever else.  :P
And why is the King's Court dropping the gifts, except to mock the Count? (That's probably exactly it.)

Also, there's lots of ways to be involved in the Peerage.

I think there needs to be a solution which is both earned but can't just be gained by grinding or by existing. I don't know what that is yet.

This is something I've thought about before and quite like the idea of. It gives a bit of an encouragement as a Retainer to log in and RP / be a visible presence in the Ward at quieter times.

Incentives to get people to log in are always good.

How about Sunpurse retainers winning the gifts to deny them to those leal servants of the King as reason? ... or just proving their prowess?

Errrrmmmmm, why? That validates the idea of the King's Gifts.

Oh! Denying your competitors something they value.  Let's call it spite?

You're not getting what I'm saying.

So, I'll be more direct. Why hasn't the Count blown up the Dispensary?! That'd be true denial. (Now, I'm being a bit facetious in order to make my point. I'm not asking the DMs to blow up the Dispensary...)

But anyway, I feel like we've gone on a rabbit trail:
My original point was, participating in the Dispensary is NOT the only way to be involved in the Peerage. Upon further thought, a conditional daily wage makes sense. Something like, "If you're outside of Rings 99 to 94, no prestige for you."

You can view the gifts in a lot of ways but however you slice it it's a competition and competing is ingrained in the Peerage spirit. If you can fight and win a contest to keep it from the other guys, even if you don't like the King, that's still a win.

No matter if you like the king or not. Having a fancy painting, or jewlery will always impress people.
