The clarity of the morrow comes.

There has been much bandied about the Springtime Promise entered into by the Accord on Nisah 24th, 7789. The signing of this impromptu treaty was a result Princess Faziima's pleading for a reconstitution of the peace between the foundational institutions of Ephia's Well.

Through the petulant indecency of an egotistical Gold League legate, the original draft of the Springtime Promise -- and its only copy -- was destroyed. Dante Moretti's intentional lack of diligence has been a matter of some concern these last several months. This is doubly so considering the severity and importance of this Springtime Promise, made at the Sublime Garden under the eye of a Princess of Baz'eel.

And though the Scribes were never able to fully obtain the breadth of the signatures and agreements made that day, the Cinquefoil Rose has undertaken a diligent effort to see to it that the word and heart of these promises were upheld through to the present.

Alas, it is through the machinations of another sergeant of the Fourth Legion that these agreements -- bound and sworn with Hanson Gilbracht himself as a witness! -- have become threatened by forgetfulness.

Allow me to elucidate the matter in an official fashion, that each of us might document it thus.

QuoteFundamentally, the Springtime Promise was entered into by the Accord as a result of a Sergeant of the Fourth Legion (Rhuk Nor, by order of Carrot Grimes) murdering a Balestriere without punishment and then proceeding to ban the entirety of the Cinquefoil Rose from the plaza of Ephia's Well as retribution for his ban from the Krak des Roses.

At its very crux, the Springtime Promise was an effort to resolve the very untenable situation of a Sergeant putting his ego before the peace and dignity of Ephia's Well. It was a joint attestation that collective punishments and subsequent reprisals would inevitably shatter the Accord. Painting with such broad brush strokes ill fits the nuances of our society.

And it was declared: There shall be no unilateral punishments meted out by any member of the Accord unto another. No attacks. No bans. No persecutions.

Then! In the course of this discussion, it was acknowledged that the current paradigm of spurious accusations and egregious punishments for Capital and Serious crimes to officers of the Accord presented a set of circumstances that were equally prone to disaster. The searches, seizures, and fines were used as a bludgeon by the Fourth Legion that spread the rot of ill blood to all.

And it was declared: Arrests of officers of the Accord by the Fourth Legion for Serious and Capital crimes shall require a warrant signed by both sitting legates.

I have banned Enmur Faranos from the Krak des Roses because he is a murderer who has been given the power -- by the Fourth Legion -- to "investigate" his own crime and obstruct the dispensation of justice to those who orchestrated the death of Legate Faith Kreutzher.

He will remained banned. It is my duty and right to do so as a Lyrist of the Cinquefoil Rose.

I am willing to sign a renewed promise alongside the rest of the Accord, that there might be an official, scribal record within the Pyramid. But I am not willing to allow this murderer to enjoy the comforts of the Krak des Roses -- regardless of what cloak he dons or whom he claims to serve.

If Sergeant Hanson Gilbracht wishes to shatter the peace of the plaza and the promises he witnessed being sworn before the Princess Faziima by ordering his men to assault all members of the Cinquefoil Rose, so be it. I shall bid my subordinates conduct themselves with dignity and peace in the face of enmity and disdain.

But I will not permit this charade surrounding Enmur to continue any further.

I am grateful for your re-affirming the nature of the Springtime promise for the purposes of full documentation. I was just about to check our own files for our notes on it when I saw this correspondance as I was certain that, as you note here, the restrictions laid by the promise were against the blanket banning of accorded branches rather than individuals, and against careless prosecution of Officers thereof.

Were simply banning individuals against the Promise, I am sure Sergeant Gilbracht would have raised such issues on one of the numerous occasions he has found himself banned from the Krak for one reason or another.

While the allegations you raise are dire indeed, to falsely invoke the oaths sworn beneath the gaze of The Crown Princess is a shameful thing. We were relieved to hear upon the bellows that you seemed to have worked the matter out, even if it apparently went as far as spilled blood.

I hope that, with order restored, this matter may be properly investigated to a satisfactory degree and justice served.
