Custom Clothing and Armor

1.  I don't think the custom crafters offer robes.  Might it be possible to add this option?  I'd think several factions would like to have robes available, especially to enhance RP and visibility.  Being able to put a perma enhancement on robes would be nice too.

2.  The custom armors seem prohibitively expensive.  Such a neat feature, but its just not practical to use.  As these are mundane armors, I'd like to see these prices scaled way back to be more on a level with the local economy.  Enchanted half-plate can be purchased from a PC for a thousand coin or less usually.  Some mundane half plate I made with the custom feature had a cost of 1900+ or so.

Personally I'd rather see three characters united by RP wearing some custom chain than the usual mish-mosh of armors normally sported.  I think it would be a nice feature on the server, unless you want this to be primarily reserved for DM factions.

3.  Crafting armor using the "next and previous" is immensely time-consuming, tedious and generally un-fun.  If we had a screen of dyes to choose from, a list of script, or a color wheel of some type this feature would be a lot more user-friendly.  I realize this is likely low priority, but it's not conducive to anyone using this feature.

4.  Make the mannequins flesh colored, so a designer can see what parts are showing and which aren't.  Currently exposed skin shows as grayish, which makes crafting armor with gray cloth or leather tough to visualize on a PC.

Thanks!

I am strongly for lowering the price on crafted armour, Maybe not the FP but everything below it.
It makes people unique and it is rather borring to see everyone run arround in the same armour.

I am in favour of this suggestion, as well!

Especially the robe thing! I love to make custom clothes, but custom robes with enchantments? I'd shout with glee if this was done! :D

Absolutely in favor here.  If allowing for custom robes is difficult with the dummies then maybe just offer a few more options and a host of dyes...

ExileStrife

I really do like everybody running around in the same armor.  I am not a fan of customization unless it's really warranted.  But that's just me and I've held that view ever since we introduced dyes to the underdark.  Long live brown and gray.

Perhaps lower the price of custom made armor so that it is only one or two hundred gold pieces more.

Then add an option to customize the armor you already have for a far more exorbitant price?

Pup

Buying something tailored to yourself is always more expensive than buying "off the rack".  I think you should have to pay a good deal for commissioned armors.  If it's that important to you, you'll pay.

1900 coins for half plate.  Mundane half plate

3900 coins for full plate.  Mundane full plate

Healing banded mail is frequently trashed as a treasure item, it's that mechanically deficient for melee builds.  Don't believe me?  Try to sell some IG, and see what price you get for it.

That's banded mail with 4 free charges of Cure Serious (use the fifth and it disintegrates) and a +2 heal skill added on top.  You can't sell that stuff for 200.  Try it.  Yet it costs like 1000 to get mundane banded mail custom made?

I'm not sure why a DM would put all that time to put this feature in the setting, when I honestly can't see anyone using what could be a very cool feature due to the ridiculous cost.

Pup

3900 for custom full plate sounds about right.

Actually its 3500g for full plate and up to 1500g for an enchantment. Worth every penny.

Thank you, but I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that customized armour should remain as a reflection of affluence, rather than opening this to everyone at little additional expense.

I can see thinking the custom armor is supposed to be crazy expensive (Although considering how hard it is to get coin in large amounts, it is going to make purchasing faction armor very difficult).  I almost feel badly complaining about this since it obviously took some serious work to get this put togethor.

Throw some robes in for the custom clothing dummies and a nice assortment of dyes with a color matrix so you don't have to do trial and error and I think that would be great.

dragonfire9000

Fully agreed. It's just not intimidating when four guys are running at you in banana-armor...

Perhaps have a cheaper crafter with more limited styles for enabling PC faction armor, and an expensive one with more options for prestige?

VanillaPudding

I'd rather see players be able to modify the look on non plot items for a gold cost. Most items I believe are flagged stolen so it wouldn't be too bad of an option. Faction armor or similar things can be marked plot to prevent modification. The tailoring dummies are a pain in the ass to use especially, mostly the dyes <_<
