Hated and Loathed wilderness drop suggestion

Creatures that are killed by another npc drop loot the same as if a pc killed them.  This should probably be changed to lesser or no drops for things that are killed by npcs.  Otherwise it becomes easy for stealthy characters to make quite a bit of gold just by looting monsters that die in these battles.

As it is, I think scavenging (based on my own scavenging experience) is rather too lucrative based on the risk and effort expended.

I know this suggestion will be hated, and flamed.  Bring it on!

Dr Dragon

I happen to agree with this scavengers should do something more cool then sneak in the wilderness and loot remains that is just lame and not cool do some real scavenging.

Damien

I think you're just being fussy and think the dms have better things to do, like add a tattoo shop. >_>

Dr Dragon

This is lamer then the rock.

TheMoonlightBecomesYou

Scavengering can get you one of the best items in the game.

artfuldodger99

Its too easy to scavange the loot from NPC V NPC fights, any PC with invis casting or decent stealth can get a reward close to the Orc quest by doing a few screens worth.

Low / no drops for NPC v's NPC deaths would be great imo.

Kotenku

Have the NPC that lands a killing blow recieve the contents of the slain NPC's inventory?

So 'scavengers' at least have to kill the victor to get the spoils?

Seeing what sticks.

SN

That's just stupid. This is one of the few ways the non-fighty characters can in fact get a bit of stuff for themselves on their own. Turn the server into more fighting heavy this way? Psht.

Egon the Monkey

Agreeing with Starless here. So long as it doesn't get stupid (like the fact that Sewer rats were hostile to PCs, mobs, EVERYTHING and you could get 50 Meats without even trying just with an invis) then sneaking and looting is good, and a reward for exploring. I loved playing a PC for a while who was sneaking about stealing VALUABLE DEAD RATS from under the skulls of nightrisers or braving Malar Beasts and Orcs to skin a cat before they notice.

One of my favourite things on my stealth PC in the UD was noticing a Deep Lurker eat a Drow Patrol alive, then sniggering and looting a few coins after the entertainment.

MangoBellini

I've heard some rather ridiculous stories from players playing stealthy wilds characters like rangers. Something along the lines of finding enough loot and sellable consumables that add up to roughly six ground within ten days of scavenging off dead mobs. I suggest some of the items dropped should be not as sellable, but not toned down in volume.

Ebok

Having played this, the big thing was cat fur, not consumables. (btw this was why i suggested cat fur weigh a tonne more, so stealthy characters could not go in and grab 30 of these over the server and leave,)The consumables can get you a profit, but honestly, it can get you killed as well. Going around under these spawns nabbing at stuff was very cool.

That being said, after doing nothing but this for upwards five days. (exaggerating) I didn't actually find more loot then I would've if I had done the orc quest once (my share of the orc quest once). The items they drop cannot be sold for much, in the rare cases they drop something sellable. They do drop potions that are kinda cool now and again, but to be frank--

This only becomes kinda wow, when people sneak out there into areas that have been traveled partly through, allot, and the server's been online for 20+ hours. Even then I've seen better loot with two runs of trogs.

The drops already suck, lolable ammounts, for pcs that even consider fighting half of these buggers. Seeing an army of 18+ mist ogres chilling the in same area is absurd.

Cruzel

I really don't know what you guys have talking about.

I play stealther/invis PCs who stalk the wilderness all the time, and I've never seen these massive loot drops and amazing wealth you guys seem to claim.  Sure you can find a couple potions and gold here and there, but it is WAY less than you would find on pretty much any quest.

Right now it is enough for someone who doesn't like to quest and wants to explore alone invis/stealthed, to stay supplied and that is pretty much it. Other than that, unless the PC happens to be a LEVEL 10 CLERIC with crazy buffs, walking around without invis/stealth usually tends to be much more costly than scavenging  will yield.

This suggestion would only hinder PCs who can't or SHOULDN'T be spending a massive amount of time in the ziggurat waiting for that next quest sending.

ALSO: Please to be teaching me to scavenge like you do, Nihm. I do not know what I am doing wrong, but I wish to see 'lucrative' as you define it!

Mort

We'll tweak this. Really appreciate honest feedback about loot level that seems off or abuseable.

Egon the Monkey

Just please, make the rats non-hostile or something so you HAVE to hunt them or have witnessed a mob/mob fight, and not just harvested the 50 dead rats from people going to Harpies.

Nuclear Catastrophe

Agree with you, love you!
