So, the pretty boy meets his end... a second time... ha ha.

Oliver was my attempt to get back into the swing of things, and I really wanted to see what the Council could and couldn't do. His concept was simple enough- make the people love him.

I guess that's what happened, in the end!
Anyway he's some screens.

Oliver really did like Olof Ingman. He had really good moments, such as this one.

This really shook Oliver, having to murder a pretty girl like Madeline...

I don't have many pictures of my undead stuff as I lost all my files and stuff before I could take gyazos, so I'm sorry ;/.  Most of the time, I was just being super spooky and losing my sanity as time went on. Oliver being undead was the worst thing to happen to him, as he lost all contact with his emotions, his feelings. The inability to really act as he once was... I thought it a very sad fate, and I was trying to figure out where to go with him, but the trial cut it short!

Anyway, hope you guys liked it. I'll see you on the next!!

Bug Reports / Raid the Illusory Castle / Castle Vrazdn

PC- Oliver Orrell
Gsid- Like a wom, undecided

Myself, Olof Ingman, and Alaethe Savhoste completed Castle Vrazdn, but the quest complete was not given after slaying the boss, Lord Escobros Vrazdn. We contacted DM Vlaid, but he was unable to figure out the solution to the bug IG. Hope someone can fix this fun quest, thanks!!!

Suggestions / Barbarians
March 06, 2017, 06:34:08 AM
Fix them.

They were alright before their changes, now they have nothing going for them. A whole pool of HP doesn't mean a damn thing if they don't have the AC / AB to keep up with. Here. I'll even give you a comparison of why barbs just suck right now.

Assume these classes have +1 AC deflection, natural, and a +1 shield, with the best armor available to them, and all have weapon focus feats.

BARBARIAN (10)
HP(max)-140
Max AC(unbuffed)-23 (24 if you have a +1 breastplate ((I know of two in the module, and they are ridiculous to get))
Max AC(buffed, with haste) 25(barkskin)/28(barkskin+shield)/32(barskin/haste/shield)
Max AB(unbuffed) 16/11
Max AB (buffed, no divine potions) 19/14
Max AB (buffed, with divine potions) 22/17
Max AB (buffed, with divine potions + rage, base perk) 25/20 (ac drops to 30 when raging)

Wow, that seems okay! Let's look at a fighter.
MaxHP 120
Max AC(unbuffed)-24, 25 if you have tumble(T) (not so hard to do), 26 with self taught(ST) perk, 27 (vs slashing) with duelist(D) perk
Max AC(buffed, with haste) 26/27(T)/28(ST)/29(D) barkskin, 29/30(T)/31(ST)/32(D) barkskin+shield,33/34(T)/35(ST)/36(Duelist)
Max AB(unbuffed) 16/11, 17/12(ST)
Max AB (buffed, no divine potions) 19/14, 20/15(ST)
Max AB (buffed, with divine potions) 22/17, 23/18(ST)
Max AB (buffed, with divine potions + duelist perk) 24/19

So I have four more ac fully buffed, AND I have expertise for another +5 AC at the cost of 5 AB. Considering that puts me at 40 AC and 19/14 AB fully buffed, that's really damn good!

Oh, and while we're at it, here's a comparison of their saves. We'll assume 18/14/14/10/10/12 for the barb, 14/18/14/10/13/9 for the fighter.

BARB

FORT 7+2(con)= 9
REFLEX 3+2(dex)= 5
WILL 3+0(wis)=3

That's pretty atrocious. Here's a normal ON AVERAGE fighter's saves. We'll assume this is a duelist, for sake of argument.

FIGHTER

FORT 7+2(con)+1(luck of heroes)+1(sturdy soul)=11
REFLEX 3+4(dex)+1(luck of heroes)=8
WILL 3+1(luck of heroes)+1(sturdy soul)+2 (iron will)=7

Wow! And I'm not even going to get into spellcraft cross classing, because I doubt the barbarian has the skill points to put into spellcraft and the fighter does!

So, let's go back up and look at the barb. He's got a lot of AB! That's crazy! 25/20 ab is really fierce. But look at the duelist fighter! He's got 40 ac! That means the barbarian will only him in one in every four strikes.Meanwhile, the duelist fighter holds a strong +19/+14 ab with expertise on, and with his perk up too! The barbarian has 30 AC. That means about 45% of his strikes will hit!!

But that's at their best! Their very best. Look at the numbers without haste on- the barbarian's ac drops to 26 (because he's raging), the duelist drops to 36. So the barb gets about a 20% chance increase to his 1/4th chance to hit, bumping him up to about 1/3rd. Meanwhile, the duelist bumps up to about 65% chance to hit! So the barbarian will be hit roughly 1 attack every round. A turn later, and that's on average about 14 attacks. He only gets 7-8 attacks off on the duelist. And let's not even get into displacement potions and the barbarian's DI or crits- it's completely negligible against the duelists' ferocity. But basically, the duelist is getting twice as many attacks off on the barbarian, has about twice as much saves as the barbarian, and can do everything a barbarian does, but better.

At the end of the day, I just have to ask....

What in the hell does a barbarian have going for them? HP sponges? They just soak up all your healing, and make you wish you had a fighter instead, with their glorious AC. AB? A duelist, or really, just about any fighter, can have just about as much AB a barbarian does, with no penalty to their AC like a barbarian suffers. Saves? What saves? They don't have the feats to spare like a fighter does. In every situation of fighter vs barb, I would pray I would have a fighter over a barb.

And don't get me started on a rogue vs barb, or bard vs barb. They both shit on him, brutally. A rogue can just color spray him, or tangle as needed. A bard can do the same, and endlessly dispel him. You know there is something wrong when I can frontline better as a thug rogue than I can frontline on a barb. That makes zero sense to me- why is a rogue better than being in the front and soaking up damage than the barbarian?

And for the love of god, don't use this argument to justify more nerfs on rogues/fighters/bards That is not the problem. You do not create balance by nerfing everything to the ground. You create balance by buffing things that need fixing. Barbarians need fixes. They can't suddenly become playable because you decided to take away the fighter's ability to cross class into spellcraft, or by taking away the rogue's flat DR reduction. They just can't. That's not how this game works. You need to add benefits to the way Barbarians work. You need to give them love and nourishment, because at the rate they're going, they'll be extinct in the next few game play balances.

At the end of this rant, I'd offer a suggestion or two.

1) For the love of god, and all that is holy, give them +1 breastplate in the module already. Why is it I can't go into orogs, and find a +1 breastplate for my poor barbarian, who's ac is already abysmal? Or seers? Rotlands? Beholders? These quests all have crazy amazing loot, and yet, there's not a single piece of good gear for barbarians in the module, be it from upper end quest, or lower level content.

2)Give them totemic stances, which give massive boons for a whole rest. It works like the monk's stances, except these one's don't require you to app, and they last much longer. Make them situational, make them offer advantages and disadvantages. Maybe one gives you max rage benefits? Maybe one gives you flat DR, at the cost of will? Maybe one gives you massive bonuses to saves, at the cost of 10% of your DI? Something like this that'll make them unique, stand out, and finally be able to complete with his fighter counterpart.

All I'm asking for is some love for a class that used to be really good, and now it's regarded as one of the worst classes of EFU. I don't get why they had to be changed in the first place, and I would gladly appreciate a massive change in direction of them to keep them in the game.

If you can't do something to give them balances, then just remove them from the game, because there's literally no point to play a barbarian at the current mess they are in.

Bug Reports / Thug AB and AB improving potions
February 27, 2017, 01:22:34 AM
GSID wundy
Name Jarvas Denmirth

Seems there's a problem with divine potions/spells that give ab and the thug perk bonus AB. Whenever I use bless / favor / aid, it doesn't seem to add onto my current ab. So with a base 12/7 AB, bless should put it at 13/8, but it doesn't. Same with all potions, and when they're in conjunction. Kinda sucks for a pure rogue, since I need all the AB i can get.

Heya folks, wundy here signing off on Tybalt L'Arcell, Specialist of the Reformed Order's Auxiliary. I had a wild ride on this PC, and really, I enjoyed every second of it, even with its ups and downs.I'd like to think of him as an prime example of what an auxiilary should strive to be, but really, that's just my opinion.

Tybalt was a mercenary of Torm- he believed in duty, obligation, and most of all, believe in his god. When the Darkening came, and he felt no more responses from his god, he still tried to uphold the ideal of Torm, which is how he wound up in the auxiliary of the Reformed Order. He held the belief he was indebted to the Reformed Order for saving him from the cold, derelict plains of the world, and swore to serve them until the end of days.

So anyway, let me pick out the fancier screen shots.

[hide= "The life of Tybalt L'Arcell, or at least parts of it!!!"]
The early days with the OG aux squad...

I caught an actual thrall, in this period as well. Completely circumstance, but really, I like to think it was a legit capture!

Often, and probably a more defining aspect of Tybalt, was the ability to always give auxiliary something to do, even though he was the same rank as them.

Patrolling the in-between, alone, was a massive investment on my PC, to ensure the Pacification campaign would be continued. Ah, the good old in-between... I miss it more and more.

Tybalt also died, was ressurected, and offered a position on the ordinants side. He refused, of course.

Tybalt hated Nthras Nasvana since the day he met him. He saw him weak, cowardly, and incompetent, a horrible aspect of the Reformed Order.

He found out that his assassin was hired by Nasvana... And of course, couldn't let it stand.

And so, at some point, he and Nasvana were alone in the Machine....

I got yelled at for doing this. I had to had a verbal argument with an operative to make sure I lived...

And got some prep talk from the Commander himself...

[/hide]

Oh, and here's some loot.
[hide= "Loot"]

[/hide]
I don't have any pictures of his earlier accomplishments, like dueling an ascensionist to the death, patrolling the Machine for [spoilers], and a whole bunch of his other deeds, due to switching to a new computer since Tybalt's creation. I had a fun time on this PC, and hope everyone enjoyed the PC as much as I did. I'll see you all on the next one.

And some fun stuff...
[hide= "Fun]
I had that flower until I died, Canzah. much love, friend, much love.

Just having to deal with a wyvern for Magnatz. He wasnt too pleased killed it.

Probably the only picture I'll show of the Ymph trip.

It's also where Tybalt descended into 'Evil'. Those poor two watchers didn't stand a chance against Tybalt + D'Qur.

Also of note- I killed two watcher sergeants, a watcher, three oathsworn, an ascensionist, two thralls, and some other PCs over the time of his life. Probably the highest count I'll ever achieve in my career of EFU. Also, Tybalt was the first PC I have ever hit 9 on, and I held it for only two days before dying stupidly.  That's all for now!!

The quest 'badlands bathhouse' cannot be turned in for completion for the bonus XP, or I'm assuming, allowing other groups to take the quest. This was done a few days ago, I do not know if it has been fixed yet.

Suggestions / Auxiliary Supply Chits
July 14, 2015, 07:06:01 PM
I like the idea of the supply chits, but I don't like that there are zero means to get them. I understand that it is likely to be delivered to you by an agent, but with no agent around the chit vendor is essentially useless. Why not get chits from maintaining the machine or killing animatrons / chosen? That way auxiliary should have a little more incentive to pursue their duties ICly. Arguably there'll be people that'll abuse the system, but frankly why even have the vendor in the first place if it is there to simply tease us?

Introductions and Group Management / The Khaganate
January 02, 2015, 08:50:50 PM

Race- Monsterous preferred, half-orcs possible
Alignments-Any evil, leaning towards lawful tendencies
Classes- Any
Goals- To create a foothold within the Dark Lake, and deliver a different, unique experience from monster races

Hey yall it's wundy here and I wanted to let you all know there's other opportunities to be a part of Ladocicea's DM plot. Now I know Orogs are the best and all, but there's other subraces you can be and still participate within the faction / plot.

All you need to know is that the Orogs are here to make war! Who doesn't like that? Well, if you don't there's other things in the works that I can't really delve into due to PLOT REASONS, but be assured there's some interesting things happening, and the plot, while HINDERED with certain IG actions, is still progressing and moving forwards.

Consider these ideas, then send me a PM if you have any questions!

  • Any and every type of goblin / kobold can fit into this faction. Applied or not, goblins and kobolds add in a certain type of RP that other subraces can't produce because of how these races instinctively act. So maybe you got that one goblin wizard you've always wanted to play, or that kobold fighter who is too scrawny to make it on his own! Whatever their intentions or character, I'm sure they'll fit right in.

  • Half-orcs are another non-apped way to get into this faction. Perhaps fed up with civilized life, or exiled because of their halfblood heritage, these guys feel like they can maybe make a name within the Khaganate, and find themselves well respected within its ranks. This is another subrace that can do types of RP that other races can't, like facing the challenge of earning respect from Orogs, and questioning the morality of what they will encounter within its ranks. It's a certain perspective that I feel is almost always overlooked, due to people not having the chance to be a part of an PC orc faction. Well, the time's now!

  • Then there's the applied subraces. Gnolls, hobgoblins, bugbears, any monster race you can think of, can typically find a reason to associate itself with the Khaganate. Maybe it's due to survival. Maybe they're a representative of one of the monsterous races' factions, like from Mound of Magnatz, or Loliliblipblop.  Maybe they're looking to see the Orogs fail, and seek its destruction from within its ranks. Maybe they've got nothing better to do with their time, and wanted to be part of some bloodshed! Whatever their intention, they can find a group of monster PCs to work with, and add more diversity to the Khaganate's ranks.

  • Finally, but one that most people will not participate in for whatever reason, is the potential to be a slave working within the Khaganate. Maybe you're a human who got bought by the Khaganate, scrapping by some cruddy existence and looking for a chance to escape. A svirfneblin survivor of Sapphire Isle who was caught, and is used to scout and guide the Khaganate throughout the Dark Lake... The list goes on, really!
I guess the real thing I'm trying to push here is to be OPEN MINDED and try out something new!  Monster races don't have plenty of opportunities to work with other PCs very often, and it might be a very long time before something else is orchestrated to cater to their needs. Anyway, wish you all the best of luck, and hope to see you all IG

Off-topic Discussion / Good NWN1 Modules
December 26, 2014, 07:53:43 PM
Hey all

I never really got into NWN1 during its prime, and no doubt I missed a lot of unique / interesting content that was being pumped out, but of late I find myself delving into the internet to find modules that are considered 'good' in delivering a good story and keeping my interest as it goes along. I've played through shadowlord / dreamcatcher and thought they were alright, and I'm currently playing darkness over daggerford, which is decent.

I'd like to see what else I missed, so if you have that one well-remembered module at the back of your head, tell me about it. Also, I guess this could be a general NWN1 module talk thread too, for nostalgic purposes.
#14
Hello, it's wundy. With my recent character biting the dust, I've taken it upon me to come up with a new concept that'll last me a long time, and I came up with a rather interesting idea.

I always liked the idea of Shevarash of being reborn into this new god who's overall goal is to support the remaining elves and ensure their survival, and I have finally found a concept that'll support it. The concept as a whole will be based in lower, and it'll deal a lot with spreading the faith, lots of talk of being reborn, burning away the past, dealing with the new, etc...

Anyway. Here's some recommended stuff

  • AL NE, CE, CN, TN
  • Class Any but paladins or druids
  • Race Preferred Sun elfs, definitely no wood or wild elfs
PM me on IRC if you have any questions, if there's enough interest for this I'll make a IRC group for it at a later time.

Introductions and Group Management / Seeking Concept

Hello I am wundy and I play a lot of concepts, but at the moment I've hit a wall. If you've need for a hench, or would want a playing buddy, PM me on IRC. I typically prefer melee-oriented stuff, but can play anything. I've been given a few ideas and prospects, but I am still open to anything.

Suggestions / Monster Lair List
September 04, 2014, 08:16:08 PM
Just a simple suggestion, a list of all current monster lairs, and whether they are available or not. There's a small list under 'New Content', but having to check it, and ponder if it is still relevant or not is confusing. Thanks!

Suggestions / Jumping
August 01, 2014, 04:40:48 PM
I would like to see a EFUSS skill called 'jumping', which works slightly like climbing, but allows horizontal movement (in a very small area) to jump over barricades, boxes, and other obstacles. I think that this could be applicable in many areas, such as in quests or DM events, and lead to other ways to get around obstacles besides 'BREAK IT DOWN' or 'BLOW IT UP WITH SPELLS'.

Bug Reports / Auxillary Recruitment
July 24, 2014, 11:01:05 PM
When I tried to join the Auxillary today on my PC Marthell Mandarat, I was informed I had 'ties' to other factions. After losing the recruit helmet, being wanded, dewanded, and dewanded from all factions, plus a log out, the quest still refused my participation, quoting I still had ties to other organizations. The DM who assisted me informed me to write a bug report, and agreed with my suggestion of waiting for a server reset before attempting again.

Hopefully this is just a very rare occurrence, and fixed easily enough!

Hello i played John Kently and he's died. I made him with the intention of being a criminal based around Upper, within the public housing area. I had a lot of plans, but of course, things change as the course of gameplay went on. He was originally true neutral, as I wanted him to not always be an ass, but had a good heart for some things, like caring for Molly in the baby and the beetle. Time went on, he began to care less as he did some nefarious things best left to find out IG, and wound up NE.

Anyway I have screenshots so enjoy.

So this is John at time of death. Was first time I hit level 7 on him, and only held it a few days.

John did a lot of smuggling
[hide=These cows AI are really annoying]

[/hide]

And he met a lot of bad people too!
[hide=Spooky man on stairs...]

[/hide]
He went through a horrible eye surgery for his eyes.
[hide=Not for children!]

(I'd say the pain was worth it)
[/hide]

And he also did a lot of bad stuff for loot. Like barrel heists.

Having fun with Big Dave after we beat up some uppermen
[hide=DAVE DAVE DAVE]

Getting into trouble with Hoarrans after having fun with Big Dave...

I never did pay them back.
[/hide]

And finally the most important part... loot, ofc.
[hide=Loots]

Received today, for doing some naughty stuff and tricking a few people into believing Kently. Seriously, rogue dressed in all black and glowy purple eyes, you put faith into him to not betray you? Come on!

Was the first piece of loot I obtained, and was hilariously gained by pickpocketing a boss and hightailing it out of the dm quest with a McGuffin. One of my fondest memories yet, and I dont have a picture of the heist because I was freaking out, sorry.

One of the neatest lore bits I've seen on a loot, was received for doing something I won't say but most people can probably figure out. I liked this piece, and cherish it still.

My amazing bow, which I for some reason don't have a desc of it saved. I still remember most of it, being along the lines of 'A fanged bow utilized by many poachers and hunters, favored for its habit of piercing tough hides on beasts'. I got this one for helping a friend out, and thought it really completed John's kit.
[/hide]

In closing, I'd like to say I had a lot of fun on John. I made him to try to make a lot of conflict, and I'd like to think I did in the end, even though he won't be around to see the conclusion for most of it. I hope you all enjoyed Kently, and I'll see you all on the next.

Uh.

Pretty unexpected death today, but you know, I came to accept it.

I took many screenshots, compared to my many previous characters, so hope you enjoy!

Our famous Elder giving us a speech!

And our people "cheering us on".

Our first walk through Dunwarren. Much paranoia.

And also on my first day I stalked a group of scrappers (I did this a lot to a lot of people all over the place throughout my entire career of Narwell)

Even though we had our differences, we still showed respect to our enemies.

T'riss scared the hell out of Narwell, but they had a very strange relationship.

We attended the blood games (Pretty sure this is where EVERYONE saw and knew about us finally)

Poor Nim. I took this to remind myself that if I was ever taken by a drow, I'd take death! (Which I did. Yay me)

This was when the second piece came about, we had a very long and heated argument with necromancers and bad people in arguing for our piece.

We had a pretty entertaining encounter with a duergar farmer.

Naturally, we were horrible at handling rothe.

The only piece of loot I really had was an old seeker cloak.

(I loved this stupid thing to death.)

Finally, capture, and death.

And with all this, I have to say this is my favorite picture. A group photo I took of all of the current gnomes and their 'closest' considered allies. In it are Zsigmond, Melanie, Booker, Hanash, Gloik, Tomber, Sidari, Brocc, Hanash, and myself.

To close this obituary, I have to say that this svirfneblin was a very fun and entertaining character, and I'm damn proud to have worked with all who was involved in the plot. Too many to count, too many people who have all contributed and made this an entertaining plot line. Most of all though, I have to say thanks to Howland for the opportunity to play in this plot.

Thanks for reading, and I'll see you guys on the next one.
