I can think of a number of ways, say perhaps easter eggs in the quest that make it easier. Ones that you find only through RP. I can think of one quest allready that has such a feature. I would imagine these but on a grander scale. Now, if you DONT find them the quest is very, very diffuclt and requires top notch mechanics to complete. If you do find them and RP them propery it is merely very difficult.

I believe the point of this is more along the lines of something that happened with Vlad died. One of my characters ran into a very low level character that was bragging how he took down Vlad. What happened? When Vlad was at Near Death and being taken to be executed it seems Vlad tried to make a break for it. A very low level character hit Vlad from behind and subdued him (ie one lucky hit). This low level character proceeded to explain to all his friends how he 'rushed Vlad' when 'Vlad was trying to run like a coward'. When called on it and challenged to a duel, the player made an OOC remaker of 'I want to be clear this is only a level three guy'. After the duel where the character was soundly beaten? The character said ok now I am ready to go on a quest and then was right back to bragging how he took down Vlad.

My two cents. If you decidde its IC for you to be a braggart or a moron (ie not being affraid of something like Caddies Werewolf) then very well. But if that would -not- be IC for your character please realize that its not very impressive when you say things like are mentioned above. This is especially true if the death in question happens because of a gank squad response to a sending about pvp somewhere.

I would point a quests difficulty varies a great deal depending on if you are playing a front liner or not. It may not seem difficult but it is.

I disagree with this. Harpies is able to be completed if you are prepared. They are based on enchantment, if your FTRs PFE wears off or isnt cast it is pretty easy to have a complete party kill. Also, lets not design quests around optimal builds and parties. We have some hard quests, we have some easy quests. Lets keep it that way. If you want a challenge try orcs 2 or lizzard folk quest.

Perhaps also focus on the cash issues. For instance there are various mines and fields ect spread throughout the island. If the House members go out and hold that land for say x time frame start to see retainers and workers move in to exploit the resources. I cant think of any number of DM quests and player plots that can spawn from this as various groups try aid / hinder the House's efforts to expliot the natural resources of the island for profit.

I dont look at this as any differend than being buffed by a PC priest. Your giving coins for a buff.

I prefer moderate scripted quests and tough DM quests / PvP. Why? The scripted quests are there to let you have fun and put you in the level range the DMs want. Hard scripted quests result in a lot of builds designed to survive them. Facing a thinking enemy, ie DM spice or PvP is where the fun is. What fun is it to die to an AI that is simple following a series of commands? Just my two cents.

To be clear. The specific instance was well done and fun for all involved (I believe). I wasnt broken up about it afterwards. I just felt a tiny bit bad lol. I was just curious if that happened to others on occasion as well.

I think there is a major distinction here between the adventuring community and the local populace. The local populace would likely be scared to death of lycans ... (remember they are the people without magic weapon trinkets or in some cases weapons period). The adventurers .... eh they face a lot more scarey stuff on an almost daily basis.

Also I would like to point something out to monk players, as I am one as well. Monks are like wizards, at lower levels they are very weak. At higher levels they are very strong. I would view the progression as this.

Level Wise:
1 - 5: Your a weak but ok addition to the party.
6 - 8: You are a decent addition to the party assuming you have some basic gear and some potions.
9 - 12: You are a good addition to the party with some basic equipment.
12+: With the a few potions and pieces of gear you can become a killing machine.

I would like to seem some place monks can buy general monk gear period. A place to buy habits and some general gloves. The Underdark had two such places that I was aware of. Perhaps the island has them I just haven found it yet :).
