This has always felt off to me. Max HPs inherently favours the high hitdie classes. I think ideally you would have 50% hps to 75% a level without any randomisation.

To compare the two extremes: say the average HPs with rolling was .75% of max after 3rd level.
A barbarian would receive 9 hps on level. With max they receive 12. It is nearly the equivalent of boosting their constitution by 6 (ignoring the default max HP for the first 3 levels).

By the same token, a sorcerer would receive 3 HPs a level under 75%, with max HPs, 4. A pseudo increase in constitution of 2.

I've found it strange that intelligence increases never see a retroactive increase in skillpoints in EFUSS and the base skill system where this occurs for every other attribute. An increase in constitution gives you hitpoints for every level, an increase in wisdom improves your will save etc. Why shouldn't the same occur for intelligence? You might say that you weren't as intelligent in your previous levels so you missed the opportunity to learn, but I would say that constitution suffers a similar logical problem. You weren't as healthy as you were then so you miss the opportunity to fortify your body. Besides which, rationalising the abstraction of levels and their relation to skills is a futile exercise.

Wish I got to find out more about what her deal was! She was always amusingly dry with her bluff checks.

My first encounter with her "Oh, I'm just a simple hedge witch of no great talent."

What a cool PC, one I knew by reputation alone. Really wish I got to see more of him.

It ought to do magical damage as well since stoneskin/blur defeats the penalty entirely.

Suggestions / Knighted PCs receive wage

I suggest that knighted PCs or ones that are meant to have holdings receive a wage to represent the income they're meant to be receiving from their subjects.

Suggestions / Have more uses for blood
August 27, 2020, 12:38:40 PM
Currently you don't have much reason to want to take a PC's blood - unless you're a hematologist or a Nephezar.

I think it would be interesting if you someone's blood sample to lower the DCs of certain spells. Blood could be used as consumable to scry them easier, or to place a curse on them at a lower dc.  It gives PCs more incentive to guard their precious bodily fluids and for the nefarious to want to take them.

I created this character as an introduction to the server, trying to find a way to play a necromancer that wasn't just animating bones, but tied in with discovering more about the lore. (And also low conflict since I'm terrible mechanically)

I started with a few preconceptions and a basic background:

[hide]Daughter of a necromancer robber-baron who made a home in the borderlands of a kingdom. Her father was rightfully burned alive by a mob of serfs when she was a teenager and she was saved by the actions of an unknown 'heroic' knight (a mindless animated corpse wearing armour attacking the nearest source of life). She was able to find safety in a nearby city with distant relatives and made a living comfortably using her education as a scribe while secretly studying the scraps of her father's work.

Over time she became obsessed with the metaphysics of the soul and started trying to find ways to use the spirits of others as a means to fulfill her petty desires (Enjoying life's pleasures for perpetuity in safety and comfort). Failed attempts to eat or absorb the souls of the poor have further skewed her viewpoint, made her erratic and impulsive as well as subtly corrupted her appearance.[/hide]

[hide]
More power will make me safe
Anyone who saves my life at risk to their own is a gallant hero who I shall do my best to help in every way
Common people conceal a monstrous nature that comes out when they gather in groups
    Mobs of commoners are terrifying
Ticker Town is full of commoners with no direction
Undeath is an undesirable state because it numbs the senses and takes away all joy from life
If you say I can have something, I can have it
There is a secret power hidden in the nature of the soul with which one can live with youth without sacrificing the joys of life.
This involves collecting and eating souls
A god's power comes from eating souls. If you die, a god will eat your soul.
This is terrifying, but waiting merely delays the inevitable.
Better you at least be spared from this fate with sacrifice, they're already doomed anyway so there's no harm.
The bounds of chivalry protect me. Play the damsel.
Life is meant to be thrilling[/hide]

She latched onto anyone that seemed unlikely to kill her for what she wanted to do and stood by them devotedly, which strangely enough was what lead to her death. She also developed a siege mentality over time as threat after threat came and went. She initially joined Velstra in admiration of Catsby then heard about Krin Haliax and the open-minded Orzans and thought them the hope of the Ward, eventually turning after her last Velstran friend died.

She was commonly known as an elf-friend and campaigner for elven rights.

Hi,

My character's name changed recently, and I've tried alchemy again for the first time since it went into effect. I've noticed that all my alchemical recipes from before no longer produce the same result.

Name: Niven Vindascas
Prior: Niven Scurlock

I'd suggest having recovery XP continue to tic to the XP you were before you died, but never beyond that (So if you earn XP from other sources you're merely recovering faster). That way you can spend your time RPing and over a long period of time you will eventually recover from your death. It'd still be a major penalty since you'd be low level for an extensive period of time.

eg:If you died at 30000, and dropped to 20000, you would receive XP tics to the point you are back at 30000. Any XP earned from other sources only speed this recovery.

That pudding scene...

Gervasy had so much depth, surprisingly good natured but with hints of a sinister core. Scheming with him was a delight - he always had such far-seeing plans.

Such a fun character. A likeable, cowardly, opportunistic idiot constantly causing chaos. I wish he was still around but I'm surprised he didn't die sooner.  I have no idea what havoc he'd have caused as a Yemani Ozran.

Very sorry to see him go, I always enjoyed our interactions! Krin reminded me of an old boy's school bully, sophisticated, flippant and dangerous.
