Yes, the other day, as my level 4 was doing orcs 2 i sponaneously combursted. Literaly something cast comburst on me, yet there was no shaman nearby, and if it were it was at the other side of the wall. I'm also certian it was no trap, because there was no "tcht" sound nor "trap triggered" message nor saving throw in the lower bar. Also i was standing in one place. I don't know how exactly it happened, so i assumed it was a bug and i'm posting it here.

If it is not a bug, please tell me what it was...

PS: Another minor thing, i was taken to -8 HP when this happened. After i was healed back to 1 HP the visual comburst efferct remained, but no savin throw or damage.

The visual effects sometimes stay after you have saved, don't worry about it as you won't take anymore damage. Additionally, lag or just a normal delay could have caused the spell to hit you. Certainly it was not a spontaneous combustion but sometimes a mage will start to cast it and it won't fire for a few seconds especially with all the spawns on orcs.

To better explain what most likely happened:

The caster of the combust spell, invisible, targeted you for combust.  As they got in range and began casting, you moved away from the caster.

However, once the casting has STARTED (and spell failure for various reasons notwithstanding), mechanically the spell is going to be cast, we're just waiting for the visuals and adjudication of effects.  By the time the caster finished the visual motions and mumbo jumbo of casting the spell, you could be pretty far from him when the actual effects go off.  You generally only have to satisfy the range requirement for casting a spell at the beginning of the casting.

I saw this sort of thing all the time when doing combat buffs in the heat of a quest.  I'd have to click to run next to a running party member, to try to catch up to start the spell.  Once I began the casting animation, Roslyn would just stay in the same spot, casting the spell while the party member would continue to run down the hall.  By the time she finished the casting animation, they could be 20-30 feet away, and if they weren't paying attention, it might look like they spontaneously stoneskinned.

It often helps to remember that NWN is not actually a 'real time' RPG.  It's a strange hybrid of real time and turn based mechanics.

Jayde: No, i wasn't moving arround! I also thought it could be that, but i wasn't moving arround. I had died, and i respawned so i was a long way from the heat of the battle, there was a shaman at the other side of a cliff, but after it cast magic missile on me, i ran back to safety and hid behind a wall untill my patry would come and help. I stayed there for a while, perhaps a couple minuites, without moving and then i combursted.

So that can't be it.

PS: Sorry for the alte response.. didn't knew if this had even been replied!

Wow.

Well, in that case, unless it starts happening with some greater amount of frequency, I'd squirrel this under "Freak Occurrences".

Glad the spontaneous combustion didn't result in you dying a second time.

Well it got me to -8 Hp.
