The ox went away when I transitioned from Mistlocke to the forest, even tough it was next to me when I did... :(

Same experience with this quest AND my char is a ranger (AE bonus for simply leading an ox IMHO). Sort of an expensive quest to fail at to boot. :)

Same thing happened to me on this quest. By all accounts I have heard its a regular occurance.

Please let me know what goes wrong, in more details.

I had no problem until I get to Mistlocke's northern transition. The ox had followed me up to that point, and when I clicked on the transition, it was right next to me. Then, when I got to the other side, the ox was gone, and I get the message about losing the reins...

The Old Hack

This quest borders on the moronically difficult now. Not only did I experience the same bug as above -- only it was at the transition between the desert area south of the forest and Sis Liman -- but when I tried again, while cautiously moving through the desert, I spotted some scarab beetles ahead. I came to a halt to consider an alternate route, moved backwards which displaced the ox ahead of me, and the stupid beast then charged RIGHT AT THE BEETLES.

In short: At a transition, with the ox right next to me, I cross, and then it is gone. In the chat window I get the message that the ox is gone before the message that I have entered a new area (the bit with the 'You have entered a Full PvP area) and before any other messages as well.

In addition: The idiot fur trader must feed his oxen thanatol or something. I have never heard of any draft animal that makes berserker charges at a mortally dangerous enemy. Maybe if it was set to run if attacked it would have a higher survival chance.

As it is, this quest is just a dumb way to lose 400 gold in a hurry. I suggest it be removed or deactivated, or alternately that it be returned to where you got a package of fur to carry.

~tOH. (Irritated? Why in the world would I be irritated just because this worthless quest just ate 800 of my gold and me never having the chance to avoid the loss, except by NOT TAKING THE QUEST?)

Jagged

Why was this changed anyway? I liked having to hire goons to carry my package.

Has this been improved in some way?

Bumping.

I would like to make a suggestion anyway: instead of a stupid ox, what about the pcs carrying the furs themselves? Make an increadibly heavy fur item so it would take a lot of time to get there, and the pc would be vulnerable against stronger critters because he couldn't run away. You could even create multiple fur items so it would be difficult to run away by simply dropping the furs.

The original implementation come the transition to Mistlocke did indeed involve a very heavy set of furs for the PC to carry. It worked perfectly.

However, given current events, regardless of this quest being bugged; the quest  has basically been put on hiatus and the NPC in Sis Liman removed due to the Comital occupation of the port.

Do not expect the ruby army to trade with mistlocke while the two powers at are war.
