Bug Reports / Potions of polarization

Dunno if it's a bug or not, but just after drinking a potion of polarization, i got hit by negative energy. Is it just the negative effects (drains) or also the damage that should be avoided?

Implemented if i'm not by mistaken by Johanes, it allows multi-summons, and that's really great. It really gives another perspective to summoning pcs.

I dunno if it's bugged or not, but nice work!

At first i thought is was just a name, as my babylonian history is a little fuzzy...

Then i watched a silly episode of Stargate, and guess what, SG1 was locked up in a Ziggurat...

General Discussion / Druids and undead

I was just wondering if there's a common attitude druids should have towards undead, or if it more personnal thing (based on alignement, also).

I'm asking because i've run worlds where druids are more spiritists, calling on ancestors as well as nature, and in that case, they do use ghosts, spirits, etc.. even if they don't go to the skeleton/zombie/ghoul/vampire/ etc part of necromancy.

What's it like in Faerun?

Just an idea coming back back from snorkling and drinking too much water...

I don't remember if implementing new spells is possible, but a water breathing spell would be neat (i'm thinking lvl 3 arcane spell, or divine for water domain, eventually druidic as well, with a short duration of about 1 turn, maybe 2 rds per lvl)

It does seem to make many people feel good and trendy to say they play only for pure rp.

You can't powergame on EfUA, since power is certainly something you can't achieve alone on this server. The powergamer labeled players are lvl 8 max, just as those who ... er, quest, also.

EfU is a harsh server. Having a build that allows your pc to survive (a bit longer) to achieve rp goals doesn't seem stupid to me. Have a pc that has no goals and only a build is weird, but hells, if that's the way you enjoy the game, who am i to judge your way of having fun?

You certainly can quest to your heart's content, but, hey, you know, i don't see anyone complaining about there own character questing a lot.

So you don't pause between quests? Well, that's naughty naughty! There really should be a timer in between quests to refrain people who enjoy playing a video game where you smash things and make jokes as you go.

Bottom line is, just let people enjoy the game how they see fit.

As much as i understand DMs labeling such and such player "not really useful to the server" (that'd be me!), and others "very involved and making the server a cool place" (that'd be lots of people!), other player's remarks about powergaming seem out of place in EfUA, IMO.

But that's just me.

Down goes the grumpiest of the 7 dwarves.

He was a cool little pc to have along, but his death was expected and more still, has allowed him to become part of a bigger story.

Special thanks to Fig and Doli, and to -spoiler- who made that well timed hit.

Now i'm wondering what new main pc i should come up with??

There's echo about "winning" in various recent posts. In EfU, winning was escaping the underdark. The rest was having fun pursuing one's own goals, and therefore, everyone of us had fun in his own way.

A few of us did the Hive quest today (really near biggies!), but couldn't find how to end it. There was a huge statue in the end room, but we found nothing to generate an end event.

I'm getting a feeling that EfUA is easier than EfU, in terms of survival. Anyone else get that feeling, or is it just me and my invisible mages? I do seem to notice lots of lvl7-8 compared to EfU's lvl 5-7.

If so (or not) do you like it as is? And (dms) is that intended?

Maybe i'm wrong, but the default summons still reflect underdark stuff (rats...)

Maybe making default an animal theme (standard NWN, but weakened) would be better?

As for other themes:

Bird theme (regeants: feathers, bird beaks, harpie feathers, guano, etc.)
lvl1: chicken-turkey... low hp, low ac, low damage
lvl2: seagull-raven... low hp, higher ac, low damage
lvl3: hawk-albatros... medium hp, medium ac, medium damage
lvl4: eagle  medium hp, medium ac, higher damage
lvl5: were-bird (harpie)
lvl6: were bird warrior (harpie upgraded)
lvl7: etc.

It kinda sucks to have to take exotic weapon skills just to have acces to your traditionnal axe when you're a dwarf.

Elve have longbow on creation, how about giving dwarves the dwarven axe, or maybe just for warriors classes?

.. is cool!

Did it for the first time. Escaped death being KD by an assassin. Got bleeding to near death by another, being invisible my teammates could barely heal me. Finally got killed by another, but it was cool stuff. Fun hide and seek stuff. Chance to escape, risk to get pawned, neat stuff.

Kudos to the DM that designed it. It's cool for warriors and backliners too.

Yesterday i want on a ressource discovery DM quest along with lots of folks, which in itself was a fine DM quest (thanks Mort, if i'm not mistaken).

But...

Although it's cool to show new module additions, such as areas, quests, and whatnot, i was a bit disappointed that this specific strategic ressource was shown to so many folks, most of whom (i presume) were probably just 'going on a dm quest' and not actively actually looking for such things.

Maybe it's just specific to what my PC is doing a lot: scouting the island, over and over again, for anything that he may find, may have missed, and specifically ressources such as ore mines or the like.

When i read the annoucement about 'controling the ressources', the first thing that poped into my mind was 'great, explorer pcs will gain intel which may counter-balance the already established faction'. I was thinking of rangers, druids, monstruous race-PC, mainly, not just my present pc (who's a dwarf crafter, so obviously ore finding is of interest to him).

But when all the folks were shown the more or less 'secret area', well, the most powerful guys tagging along just claimed territory (and there's certainly no blaming them, it's the right thing to do). Of course nothing is settled, as 'claiming territory' is more of a symbol than effective, but whatever.

I'm probably not clear, so basically, i just think some things are worth showing to everybody, others  are not (like faction plot related secrets), and that ressource discovery/claim/ type of thing should fall into the secret stuff.

That being said, went on a ride, talked and argued, fought our way to the place, pawned the slavers, and that was cool!

I was possessing my familiar in the Bat Tower quest, and when i killed the swarm bats, it didn't allow for quest to end.

It's just a feeling i get reading the various faction posts.

There's lots of PCs trying out for there own faction, and i feel as a result most factions go nowhere for lack of people.

I've had many people ask me to join a faction, and i've made PCs to join such and such project, but most have aborted real quickly.

So based on that feeling, i'd encourage folks:

A/ to stick to their idea, because you'll get nothing done with a one week old PC

B/ to join existing factions instead of trying to make a similar one (ex: militias or similar)

That was just my 2c.

I'm browsing the "LEXICON", and found this, which could make AI pretty tough on parties.

Since we gang up on creatures, so should they, and for that matter target the most bleeding PC. It might make them move around too much and get caught by AoO though.

For those who enjoy the "survival feel".
