Bug Reports / Priest Oddo Borne has no fountain
February 25, 2015, 01:57:19 AM
Well, the NPC mentions the Wishing Well, which is the donation bowl for the Tychean clergy, originally posted in Lower when there were no NPCs. Since the idea of the NPC is to stay somewhere not safe due to his nature, he has been moved, but not the Wishing Well. So, although I mentioned it to him ICly, I am sure this is a bug. So yeah, I guess this is an easy one, just move the Wishing Well next to him.

Bug Reports / Sailing system bugs

PC: Drex Besaven

My PC took the boat from Mur to Loblobliiblop with the Kuo-Toa sailor. On the way some sea scavengers invaded. I misclick to inside, then go right back to deck to fight. We fought the Sea Scavengers, then the Sailor never kept on the trip. I waited for a while, the sailor would always say that 3 mins were left. To try to do something about it, I go inside, then back to deck, only to be transitioned to Causril Commune area, instantly (!!). So, I took it ICly that the Kuo-Toa guy took me to the wrong place, and paid the Causril sailor to finally take me to Loblobliiiblop. Then it worked.

Suggestions / Wispy NPC Drug Dealer
February 22, 2015, 01:58:03 PM
He offers some free samples. Probably random of course, but I believe the idea of the free sample is to get the target hooked, so he can then broaden his market. That said, at least the one free sample I had, he does not sell. I think he's not doing very well at his business. The suggestion is, that he sells all the types of free samples that he offers.

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Atallo 'The Magus' Synod
November 10, 2014, 02:39:58 AM
After a brilliant start, several breaks and almost early retirement, I have finally gotten closure with this PC. That's right, he got killed. He was a heavy character to play for me, and yet a lot of fun. A young man who believed he had the right, from birth, by blood, to use magic without any restrictions with the abundance that he pleased. I wanted to give a Netherese touch to the swag of the whole thing, unfortunately it has been misinterpreted a couple of times which lead to many great conflicts. No real great accomplishments he had, this PC was much more about the build up, I didn't get near anywhere I wanted. He also had many different phases, and the character got uncharacterized. It was my first wizard, and I loved it. Great class, I recommend, tons of versatility and fun.

It has been a great run!

Stats!

His first date!

His first gang!

High Netheril Arcane shit, you wouldn't understand it

A Natural Spellslinger! Seriously, I would throw grenades, use any wands or pretty much anything available at distance. Even cantrips!  'Dem Death Rays!' :D

And this screenshot just because he has the "Corteous Magocracy" feat.

Cheers EFU, I'm soon coming um with something new

Suggestions / Half-Drow Subrace: Darkvision.
June 10, 2014, 07:54:58 PM
Because. Even half-orcs have darkvision feat. Half-drows, currently have low-light vision, and it makes little sense.

From the creators of EFU:M Smogsons:

Quote
Netheril evokes images of a mystical territory of glistening beauty and cultivated extravagance. Days unfettered by care and nights untouched by the hand of darkness. The climax of humanity, the land of plenty, the magical dream reborn in the Underdark, from the ashes of the Apocalypse.

QuoteKey words: Deep Netheril, Magocracy, Dark Netherese

General Idea: Netherese Empire Enthusiasts/Scholars banding together to thrive in the Underdark through the Old Netherese Ways and lore.

Alignment: Non Good, non Chaotic (exceptions more likely for Chaotic)

Class: Non Paladin, Non Druid (Barbaric types should be of lower cast/status. That  means cheap or even forced labor, unless they are Moanderites, that should be the exception for "Nature Folks" in the faction)

Religion: Not entirely a religious concept, but the Netherese Clergy is well respected. So, bringing the Netherese Pantheon together is also part of the concept. Deities (for clerics or worshipers): Amaunator, Jannath, Jergal, Kozah, Moander, Mystryl, Selûne, Shar, Targus and Tyche.

Race: Mostly Human and Human bloods (Half-Elf, Half-Drow, MAYBE Half-Orc) but anything that would make sense is welcome. Elves and Gnomes might be a bit more respected for the racial magical background, but still leaning to second class. Monsters, always on a leash (if you catch my drift).

Character type suggestions: Soldiers, Bodyguards, Shadow Summoners/Shadovar Enthusiasts, Archeologist/Engineers, Stonemasons, Scholars, Taskmasters, Specialists, Mages, Alchemists, Enforcers, Merchants, Chaplains of Netherese Pantheon (the Clergy cast), Spies (infiltrated in our ranks or to infiltrate in others/double agents), Sorcerers, power hungry Magocrats...

Screen Shots & Obituaries / The BladeMaster Zhorven
June 05, 2014, 07:09:55 AM
This character was created on Thursday, May 15th, 2014 at 09:10:48 PM.
Since creation, this character has logged on and off 161 times.
The character has spent 4 days, 5 hours, 51 minutes, and 54 seconds online.

TRUE Martial Artists can come in all shapes and sizes! Not all of them are Monks...

I also have learned that you can play a Prestige Class (Weapon master in this case) without really having any level in it.

To get by in the beginning, he 'sold' his sword, which came with its master.
What if you wanna play your half-orc more orc than human? A half-human, who favors his orc blood and is proud of it. This is Zhorven's story, grew up in a tribe where there were "Blademasters" and in order not to be the 'half human odd one out' he embraced the orcan ways. When finding out he could fill his 'weak' half with something other than human (that he hated unless it was cooked on his table), he took the chance. In the end it was his doom, but everything that happened in between was a blast.

The first picture I had in mind when playing my first Orc type was the good old Blademaster from Warcraft III. Who didn't love that guy. Never really got to level the Weapon Master class but I had a blast playing him anyway, and even though I knew for sure he would probably end up dying ganked by hold person + mob (which was exactly what happened), I still got a bit mad about it, but I'm over it. I hope those who killed him (whoever that was) had any fun by doing it, for I had tons of fun playing him, subduing over 10 characters, kidnapping over 20 NPC prisoners, eating arms and most of all, making people walk away in fear when they 'spotted' me (because I had 4/4 hide/move silently on purpose, and would walk around on stealth and hostile).

Don't get fooled by his CHA, I had all the items and ranks I could on intimidate.

As many of my villains, I ended up winning a lot of fights (losing a few too), killing no one, and FDed horribly, because when people simply want you instantly dead no matter what,it's gotta mean you did something right!

Had I ever gotten anywhere near higher level, I'd put up better fights and spread more terror, but it seems I didn't need that much.

Here's a few screenies, I'm done missing him. Cheers EFU, it is this sort of challenge that keeps me running. No hard feelings at all, in the end everything happened ICly and I do not considered to have been 'lamed'. I simply was very upset for losing a character I enjoyed playing a lot, I'm sure most of us have been there, and it is wise to cut me short before I have high levels, that would unbalance the server... :P

A special thanks for: All the mobs that hunted us throughout the server when we were online (even inside quest areas when fighting bosses), making playing this thrilling! Also The 100 hounds (he almost became one at some point), "Scrolls" player, redo (Who came back to EFU because of this concept), JaydeMoon, Dtw, CDP, Mira (DM), Morva, Zango, Crimmage, Gloinar, Soup (for not playing but watching it form afar), and all who Zhorven's victims, enemies and enthusiasts of his style.

"My blade seeks blood!"
"Yes, chief."
"What task is there?"
"I am yours."
"Ooooh."
"I hear and obey."
"Hui!"
"Yes!"
"Excellent choice."
"I listen!"
"Taste my blade!"
"For the Burning Blade!"

DO YOU SHARE THEIR BLOOD?

Quote from: Random_White_Guy;322594'Half Orcs are one of my favorite things on EFU when they are consistently played. They can be a variety of awesome personas and classes, different utilities, and ultimately can make a great deal of fun for the server. Gladiators, crime thugs, and more are often portrayed...' 'Gruumsh, Shargaas, Yutrus, Illneaval, Baghtru and more are all great deities for a variety of more savage, wild side to the Half-Orc Race. No apps required, no necessarily needed experience in the Orc Lyfe, but I encourage anyone wanting to give it a try to give it a shot!...'

'...There's a great depth of tribal RP and more you can get into when you expand beyond the notion of Half Orcs as drooling behemoths. Though that concept is one that could easily fit as well!...'

Well, RwG has always inspired me, so I quoted him here to promote ORC LYFE.

It is not exactly proud half-orcs banding together pretending to be humans and thrive in human society. Or half-orcs trying to pass as full blooded orcs. NOR a tribe of lunatic hybrids who think they could be a new race, even though they are not capable of reproduction.

The main idea is a bunch of orcbloods who band together after surviving the End of the World and learning every day of the fall of another Elven or Human God. The idea is to cling to the Orc blood, and unleash the "strength of the blood". Of course this is a general idea, and I do not intend this to be an "orc mercenary company", but whatever it gets into shape from here. We have priests of Gruumsh, barbarians and typical low life human settlement half-orcs who are now seeking to unleash their orc origins, ones more savage than the others.

Mind you my PC is not the leader of this, nor I intend him to be.

Races: Half-Orcs preferred, byt any variation of Orc is possible, such as Mountain Orc, Gray Orc, Thayan Orc, Tanarukk, Ymphian Wild Orc and Orogs. All of these require app.
Class: Non Paladin.
Alignment: Evil
Religion: Detachment of human, dead or good deities. Orcan Pantheon or other stuff evil.
Goals: Ebrace monstrous/orcan/vile ways. Make some noise through grunting, snorting and going wild. I have a few more elaborated ones, but that's personal for my PC and I want to to happen naturally and make no promises.
WARNING: Joining this might result in horrible death of your PC by angry mobs or iron care bears. (Although Half-Orcs are still considered a race of humanity in Sanctuary, and same rules apply to standard races, when you embrace your half monster, you should watch out and be warned).

Join #orc, PM me, Dtw, Morva, or Crimmage or just roll your orc blood and hop on.

General Discussion / Special EFU Portrait Pack
November 29, 2013, 12:03:41 AM
For the last couple days I've been working on a portrait pack to live up to EFU quality, something to be considered being one of the official portrait packs of EFU. This is no copy paste of any downloaded portrait pack. I have a vast collection of images, and I carefully selected them to make this pack, fresh (as in using images not used in previous packs), of high quality and EFU pertinent. I've included portraits for all available races and most of the available subraces. A total of 143 portraits specially selected and compiled for EFU.

[HIDE=Every single one of them is displayed in the sample below (mind you this sample file had the image quality toned down since the file was so huge, so the image quality on NWN will be better).][/Hide]

The "El Groso's Ultimate Portrait Pack" file has about 26 MB, and can be downloaded here. Simply extract all the portrait files to your Portraits folder in NWN's directory.

If a DM wishes to make this official, in addition to the ones that already exist, by all means, as it was made specially for EFU.

(I don't claim any art content as my own, they are compiled from images published and made freely available on the internet)

Warning: NWN engine may crash when you have too many custom portrait files in your portrait folder, at the time of loading them at character creation, depending on your system. There are a few ways to go around that, but IMO the best one is to keep the folder clean, by removing old portraits not used anymore, and the ones that are not listed in 'official' portrait packs (since those are more likely to be seen only by you). Another solution, should you wish to keep your portrait folder loaded, is to select your character portrait's out of the game before running it, renaming the portrait folder (to something like 'portraits1'), and moving the files you wish for your portrait to an empty folder called 'portraits', since it's the one NWN will capture the custome portraits from. After the character has been created, then put all the portrait files in the same "Portraits" folder.

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Atto Proverson
October 23, 2013, 04:21:35 PM
Atto is not dead. He has just gotten stuck, and has become uninteresting for me to keep playing him. He is semi-retired, that is, with a remote chance of me bringing him back someday.

Atto was meant to be some sort of mix of Tony Stark and Nikola Tesla, giving all the proportions of the setting of EFU:R. I feel like I failed horribly on that part, for he has become widely known as a merchant and trouble maker, rather than anything near a high tech inventor. I initially portrayed him as a rich playboy, owner of lucrative businesses, and since PCs start dead poor, I had to make money. And a lot of it. So, I started on day one with a loan of 1k, and made up to nearly 30k in gold, plus all the stock, only merchanting. Sadly that gave him the Merchant label, and I was never truly able to use that gold for things like building a workshop, or having cool inventions made, as a combat suit for instance.

Although he spent most of his time doing paperwork, cataloging stuff, and making money, I got into some action with him occasionally, and I had a lot of fun with him for a time. Here are some screenies:

Introductions and Group Management / Proverson Enterprises
September 26, 2013, 01:34:52 AM
A PC faction intended to be a conglomerate of small initiatives united under a banner that intends to fund/sponsor them. I always felt a bit sad when saw amazing ideas die out because there were not enough players for the several factions, so here's my attempt to unify them, and make it possible for a 2-3PC  (even 1)"Enterprise" to strive. The idea is to dive in server plots and bring our own touch to it. Whether you wish to play a support/minion character or a leader of sorts, a place in Proverson Enterprises can be found. Should you start your own Branch, you get a cool insignia for it! :D. The plethora of combined goals range from trivial to very ambitious. Due to IC circumstances, the faction is now based in Lower Sanctuary, something that happened very organically, and might lead the faction to prominence in Lower Sanctuary very soon. It also gives chaotic tendencies to it. We'll likely be doing all the HQ claiming/earning soon, there's faction items in the works, and we have Svirfneblin Cookies (not really).

Alignment: Any. Chaotic tendencies.
Class: Non Druid, Non Paladin
Race: Any. Monstrous races might be possible as well.

Ps. If anyone wonders if the name "Proverson" has any relation with the old legendary "Montgomery Proverson" from early Efu:A... Maybe... FOIG!

Suggestions / Engineer Perk Update
August 31, 2013, 06:33:08 PM
This perk was designed prior to the existence of EFUSS Engineering and also prior to the creation of the most recent grenade throwables. So, the suggestion is so it offers some bonus to EFUSS Engineering, a +2 would be good enough, as well as update the list of random grenade like weapons they get (make) every reset.

Cheers.

General Discussion / Skill Check Rolling
August 26, 2013, 06:12:37 PM
You should roll skill check only if requested by a DM. It is not against the rules to roll without being requested, but it's good for nothing other than OOCly show off your skill, for it doesn't work as emoting anything, and irritating your fellow players. Maybe rolling appraise checks, intimidation, etc, could give a hint as to what you're trying to use, but it is not a tool to automatically convince people of something. It doesn't work like that.

Bug Reports / Spellguar Auxiliary Scripted Resignation
August 15, 2013, 04:15:52 AM
Character: Akmir Hazgok
Gamespy IG: SGK

Akmir has resigned with the NPC, the scripted thing.

Bug #1: His key was not taken, but emoted by the NPC. I later on trashed it to portray what happened ICly.

Bug #2: My character still receives messages about problems in the Machine. Also, in efuss, he's still listed as member of the Spellguard Auxiliary.
#36
Akmir takes too seriously the School of War Teachings of Always Testing oneself against dangerous threats, and I used to take too seriously the "Do something that makes sense even though you'll know you'll lose".

At any rate, the Spellgurd Auxiliary is an awesome association and I recommend it, at least the School of War, as I don't know about the School of Engineering.

I had fun in most of the interactions however, and I thank all players involved in his -several- PvP encounters. He lost the majority of them, one of them even cost his life. Here's a few screenies.

His second "mission acomplished" - Confidential

Never backed off even after having his eye removed

Friends or Foes?

Combat Simulation: He made it to number IV!

Another Mission Accomplished! He made a good Squad Captain!

Player Compendium / Small tips for EFU noobs
August 03, 2013, 07:42:16 PM
Things that are not much of a big deal, but still very useful for any newcomer. These are things I wish someone had told me when I started playing EFU.

-"Dead" NPCs: When making efforts to Rping your character, we tend to react as our characters would when they see certain things. So, I've seen this happen over and over again. The PCs freaking out when they see a villager, or guard, or whichever other NPC corpse on the ground, probably killed by a cat who followed a PC, or for whatever other reason. I'm sure it would be fine to react as your PC would on such situation, except there is probably not even a corpse there, even though you're seeing one. Sometimes NPCs just get knocked out, or flee, or die and their corpses are ICly removed, etc. But DMs are not all the time available to raise, possess responsible NPCs for removing corpses of the streets or whatever. So, unless there's a placeable or bubble saying something like "A gruesome scene" or "Piled dead corpses lie here" or anything like that, 'dead' NPC corpses should be ignored.

- Scripted Quests: "Man, I'm sure I killed all those goblins in the granary yesterday, how come they are back?". "I know Skinnard's farm, I come here everyday, and these Silver Raven Mercs keep coming and dying! Let's split in two flanks so we don't suffer the same fate as they did"; I've been here before".... Etc. Scripted quests must simply be forgotten by your PC upon each reset, as if they had never been done before. It's the only way to avoid oddities and quest meta-gaming.

- DM Possessed? Some NPCs, hostile or not, will emote or say something. Although it's okay to react as your PC would normally, sometimes they're not really DM possessed, so NPCs saying things doesn't necessarily mean your quest is being spiced or DMs are specifically communicating with you.

- Skill/Ability checks/rolls: Dice rolls are strictly OOC, so, rolling your persuade check when trying to persuade a PC to do something will do no more than irritating your fellow player. They are to be used only when requested by DMs, so , although there's no rule against rolling them, one can't expect to manipulate other PCs reactions using social skill rolls or anything of the sort. Each PC will react the way their players deem right, so, trusting your fellow players RPing and staying true to your character (as in rping something intimidating when your character has high intimidate for instance) is the best choice. Unless, of course, DMs request a roll.

General Discussion / Appreciation: Mist Wraiths
July 13, 2013, 06:35:49 PM
I just want to express my appreciation for this faction/association. I have played and enjoyed several factions since Efu:A to Efu:M, and it's safe to say this one was among the very best and most fun I've played in, probably the one best. So thanks to Talir for this jewel gem [wink] of Efu:M!

Character: Ikai Authosk
Gamespy ID: blackwyrmdude

Nothing like described in the description of this drug happened. Actually, it had no effect at all. The character is not immune to drugs, to my knowledge, I don't think the dealer ripped me off, so, it's likely a bug. I tried it twice, and no effect.
