What a neat PC! Coriander remained convinced until the end that he was secretly reporting back everyone's activities to the Knaves (or worse) XD

Melkoth <3

Surprisingly, pretty spot on with his assessment of Anemone's goals in giving him the Mistvale. It was a combination of love for a man who'd come to be more of a father than she'd ever had, coupled with her desires to study its results, regardless of the outcome.

I'm also bad at screenshots, so I don't have much to add, but the dynamic between Melkoth and Anemone was one that I absolutely adored.

Thank you for such an amazing PC!

Suggestions / Re: Associations and Ring Running

I feel like we need to pin down one really significant thing about EFUC that I feel like the chapter's of two minds on:
Are ringrunners expected to regularly come back to the hub?

If they are, some of these are non-issues, but then we'll want to see further improvements to make it easier to Return to 99 (shorter trips back through the rings/portals to 99 (one way?)/scrolls of TP (okay now I'm just being silly)

If they're not, then yes, I 100% agree with RwG about strongholds. I'm not sure what Association perks you'd expect to take away, though? Veteran status? Armor? The key? Prestige points?

To the second point,

I think some of the mechanics involved in ring running are encouraging the unrealistic-feeling cooperation behavior, probably unintentionally.

(sorry I really hope this isn't too spoilery)

A ring requiring gathering X items across multiple resets lends to a large mob getting together formed up of multiple groups that each had some of the items.
A ring requiring waiting through multiple resets for the right path forward to "open up" does much the same, but now it's like there was a queue line of people waiting for the right day, and it's finally here.
A ring requiring really specific really high DC skill checks to complete will naturally require a group to accept help from the one PC who happened to have the right skill

These three ideas are probably the three elements of ring running I'd like to see change over time, because I feel like the original "advertised" ring running was a replacement for classic EFU exploration that could be done with 1-3 people during times of low/no DM activity. A specific group of 3 mentioned in lore would be impossible in our current state, because I can't even imagine doing Ring Running with only 3 people unless those players had already done ring running on previous PCs and intentionally built their trio for maximum crush.

Also, even after writing all this, I think that neither of the suggested fixes are going to get people back to 99, which I assume is the point of the suggestion.

We had a ton of hub activity when DM activity was high and the hub was where all the action was. No one wants to be in the middle of nowhere if DMs are running all the coolest plots and events in Ring 99. As we slip into a point of the year where DM activity is always low, we see people doing the very thing that was designed to be fully automated, so this is probably just the way it's gonna be, and once DM activity picks back up after the new year, suddenly the Rings will become a ghost town again.

To add my two cents here to the first point, I've had multiple members of the community tell me that Orcs is an Easy Supply Run and so I just don't buy that people think it's all that hard, especially for groups that have already done the quest (which is most everyone at this point)

In addition, the multiple daily sendings for Mongrelwood Orcs seems to indicate that the quest is farmed quite regularly.

I really like the idea of making it a random, so at least it's more of a special thing when it shows up.

Alternatively, here are my suggestions for keeping it static:

1) Keep making it harder until it's no longer ran daily :D
2) Remove the potion bag at the end and see who still does it
3) Make more static quests/seam quests that are comparable in difficulty/rewards (this would be ideal but would take some time)

The sky as dark as solid lead, the lizards behind us all were dead...
But there, oh there, far could I see, the light, the light, calling me!
My companions in arms joined as one, to share in this sight beneath a hidden sun...

Suggestions / Add Potion Bottle Bundles to Ring 93
« on: November 13, 2019, 09:07:47 PM »
I'd obviously love to see more places to buy bundles of potion bottles, and could name other places, but one spot that seems like it'd make IC sense would be the tavern in Ring 93. It'd be a great place for a PC to hang out and sell their player-crafted stuff!

I wish you to investigate my disappearance. Start with my dearest friend Madelaine Springs, I think she knows where I've gone.

It's very dark here. Please hurry.

Any word from our script kobolds?

The potential here is so much fun if it could be made to work without exploit!

I wish I got to interact with her more on Anemone, but I loved the interactions I did get!

Thanks for the cool flavorful PC :)

I've been having trouble capturing that lightning in a bottle again, so I'm going to take a break for a bit

Hopefully I'll be back with something cool sooner rather than later!

P. S. I also hope you feel better soon, Cat!

1. All Prospectors Are Equal
Every member of the crew has a vote in affairs of the moment, is entitled to an equal share of the planar prizes that await us, and affords the others respect and decency.

2. The Seams Belong to Us All
None save those who have violated The Code will be denied a place on a crew. Prospectors understand that the more the merrier, and the planes hold limitless riches that can make us all rich together.

3. Respect the Bond Between Crew
Always be honest and true to the members of your crew. If a crew member cheats, harms, or deserts their own crew, then they will be marooned in the Seam with nothing but a bottle of water and a weapon.

4. Settle Disputes in the Planes
Quarrels and dissent with another crew encountered in the planes are to be settled by sword, pistol, or whatever contest is deemed appropriate for the situation.

5. Help New Prospectors Flourish
Treat new Prospectors well so that their legends can grow. Show them kindness, and share freely your knowledge with them. Someday, they may be the one to pull you from the flames of a fire seam, or to provide you with a warm blanket in an ice seam.

Dear Sir or Madame,

I noticed that papers seem all the rage at the moment, and I was hoping to get in on the action vis a vis a Planar Prospecting Publication.

I'm not especially magical, so I have to rely on doing things by hand, but recently I learned that your organization has a printing press!

Can we come to an arrangement where I may use your device to mass produce a series of broadsheets about the business of the Planar Prospector's Guild, seams, and the like?

The Planar Prospectors Guild will not be stopped by the Ring Walls!

I am looking to buy fancy objects from Ring 95 that are connected in some way to getting through to the next Ring.

As an aside, I'm also seeking information on what those objects are, and how I'm supposed to use them to get through the gate, insofar as such information is able to be divulged without endangering you or me.

Your contribution to my efforts will not go unrewarded!

Hello, fellow Ring Runners!

I'm looking to go deeper into the Rings, but I'm going to need some help.

If you're looking for another member for your cohort, let's meet some time and I can tell you what I could bring to your team!
